Installation of prototype laser at BCG’s Dutch/German location
After the heavy snowfall in december was over and the snow melted, Bird Control Group was able to reach their test site. On the 4th of January 2018. BCG installed one of the LIFE Laser Fence prototypes at the test site. The system works autonomous and is charged by solar panels.
The test site is an uphill area where wild boars manifest during the night. According to the local hunters and local agriculturists, every night between 30 and 50 wild boar roam in this area. Wild boar is a threat to Agriculturists since they destroy grassland and they destroy corn crops. Hunters control the wild boar population by shooting the animals. Possibly LIFE Laser Fences can be a replacement for animal-unfriendly methods such as shooting.
The goal of the first tests is to monitor and analyse any responsive behavior of the wild boar to the Laser Fence prototype.
